Abstract:

The political, historical and geographical nature of aspects of the status of territories creates a number of difficulties in applying existing international legal norms. The issues of annexation as a historically effective way of changing the territory in its modern interpretation are analysed in this article. The connotation of violence during the annexation of territories regarding the inadmissibility of the use of force or the threat of force in international relations is a key point of research. It was concluded that in the current conditions, any manifestation of annexation is unacceptable, but a self-sufficient algorithm has yet to be developed to prevent such actually ongoing phenomena.
