Abstract:

The article deals with instruments regulating nuclear-weapon-free zones and related security issues. The author identified the main of these instruments - the treaties on Antarctica, Latin America and the Caribbean, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia, Africa and Central Asia. At the same time, the author concluded that, with all the significance of these acts, global nuclear safety issues should be addressed not at the regional but at the universal level. Due to the politicization in practice, it is possible to apply the usual rules, to involve civil society. Many countries are abandoning nuclear power altogether, and perhaps this is the current basis for nuclear security.
