Abstract:

The article analyses the fundamental acts in the field of the prohibition of chemical and biological weapons: the 1971 Biological Weapons Convention and the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention. The author reflected various forms of control over the fulfillment of the obligations of States to eliminate the threat of the use of chemical and biological weapons, including those that arose directly during the interaction of States in the international arena. The final conclusion on the need to support the process of establishing zones free of weapons of mass destruction in the context of the prohibition of chemical and biological weapons proves the timeliness of the issue.
