One of the fundamental rights of the people (nation) is the right to international legal protection and to receive support from other subjects of international law. However, at present there is no general recognition by the subject of international law of the struggling nations and peoples for independence. The author concludes that the nation (people) deserves to be included in the system of subjects of international law on an equal basis with States. At the same time, it is crucial in the international arena to support in every possible way the desire of the people for statehood, that is, for the creation of a full-fledged new state, and not for self-division and transition to the wing of a stronger/more profitable state, which takes place in the 21st century.
