Abstract:

Using the terminology of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the author characterizes consular relations of the Russian Federation as a set of relations established between our country and abroad to perform consular functions. In particular, the article contains an analysis of the history of consular contacts of Russia, the status of consular offices of the Russian Federation abroad, the regulatory framework, in particular the Consular Charter (No. 154-FZ), the implementation of consular functions. It was concluded that within the framework of the development of consular relations, work is continuing to facilitate the regime of travel of citizens of Russia, and fundamentally new tasks are being solved, for example, to promote the implementation of the State Program for the Resettlement of Compatriots to Russia.
